Abstract
A new species, Picrasma longistaminea, Simaroubaceae, from Ecuadorian Andes is described and illustrated. A description of morphological features is presented, and information on distribution, phenology, uses and common names are provided. The new species is compared with its most closely related taxon, P. excelsa, a widespread species in the Neotropics.
