Abstract
Mayna yasuniana (Achariaceae), a new species, endemic to the wet forests of the Ecuadorian Amazon, is described and illustrated, and its placement in the genus discussed. The new species is distinguished from all species so far described by their fruits without bristles. In a 25-ha plot in the Yasuní National Park, this new species averages five individuals (with DBH ≥ 1 cm) per hectare.
